On the 22nd of May, we swapped the office for a golf course. Petty Pool held its charity golf day at Pryors Hayes Chester, and Spectra was there twice over: a team on the course, and cameras on the whole thing as the day’s media partner.
The gist: We played Petty Pool’s charity golf day at Pryors Hayes and filmed it as their media partner, raising money for young adults with learning disabilities.

A cause worth backing
Petty Pool is a Cheshire charity based in Sandiway. It runs a vocational college and outdoor centre for young adults with learning disabilities and difficulties, supporting more than 100 learners a year to build confidence, independence, and skills for work. The day’s raffle raised funds for the Project Learn Hive Appeal, which is developing new facilities for those learners.
That in mind, we’ve been Petty Pool’s media partner for a while now, and it’s a relationship we truly value. We first teamed up with them last year, lending our marketing and media to champion the work they do with young people with learning disabilities. And this is exactly the kind of local, purpose-led work we like to put our name to.
How the day ran
All teams started together on a shotgun start and played Stableford across the parkland course. After golf came a BBQ served by their fantastic learners, speeches, prizes and the raffle draw. Spectra got a mention in the opening from CEO Sally Garratt, and again in the afternoon (thanks Sally!).

Our part in it
Our job was to tell the story of the day, from first tee to final prize. Teaming up with our directors John Wylde and Sam Spridgeon were Justin Caroe from the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Ashley Franklin from SJS Joinery Liverpool, who made up the Spectra four-ball. So whilst balls were flying, Yuki and Monique worked the course to capture the day with video and photography.
At the end of the day, the finished film and photos gave Petty Pool a set of assets to thank supporters and drive the next round of fundraising. And that’s the point of good event coverage: content that gets shared, not filed away.
