Executive summary

A specialist craft, made findable.

Some trades you can teach in a season. Lime pointing and heritage masonry are not among them. K Blythin Brick & Stonework are a family-run business with more than 60 years of combined experience, qualified in heritage practices, restoring listed properties across the North West, and genuine lime-mortar specialists in a field where very few are. The work is exceptional. The challenge was making sure the people who need that specific expertise, right now, could actually find them.

They came to us to turn a referral-led heritage trade into one that also wins work through search. We built a website designed to be found and to convert, focused local SEO on the high-intent, specialist terms that lead to jobs, and let the quality of the finished work do the selling. Over the last twelve months, organic search traffic grew 77% year on year, visitors stayed markedly longer, and a business that ran almost entirely on word of mouth started getting discovered online every day.

The challenge

A specialist craft that lived on reputation.

Heritage masonry is a word-of-mouth world, and K Blythin’s reputation was built the right way, through decades of quality work for domestic clients and public and private-sector contracts. But reputation lives in people’s heads and on finished buildings, not on the first page of search. When referrals slow, there is no tap to turn on.

A reputation you cannot search for

Decades of quality work, but almost none of it visible where new customers now look first: on page one of Google.

High intent, hard to capture

Someone with a Georgian property and failing cement pointing needs a lime specialist, not "a bricklayer near me". A generic trade presence rarely captures that.

A fiercely local, competitive field

Trade and construction search is intensely local. Winning the click means showing up for the right services and looking instantly credible.

The strategy

Search visibility, built around a specialism.

We focused on the searches that lead to jobs: specialist service plus location, the terms real customers type when they need heritage or lime work done. Three pillars, one compounding result.

01

A website built to be found, and to convert

Before anything could rank, the site had to earn its place. We built with local SEO principles baked in from day one, put the craft front and centre with real finished work doing the selling, and wrote copy that speaks to two audiences at once: homeowners with period and listed properties, and contractors commissioning industrial and public-sector work. Fast, mobile-first pages, because most trade searches happen on a phone.

02

Local SEO that targets real search demand

We matched service and location targeting to where K Blythin actually work across the North West, and optimised around high-intent specialist terms like lime pointing, repointing and heritage restoration, not just generic bricklaying. Clean technical foundations keep the site healthy as it grows.

Showcasing the craft

In heritage work, proof is everything. We made the quality of the restorations impossible to miss the moment someone lands on the site, from sandstone walls to bridge repointing, presented so the standard sells itself and getting in touch is easy. It is a big part of why visitors now stay longer.

The craft

Let the work do the selling.

Sandstone walls, hand-cut steps and stone copings, restored and built to last. The standard is the sales pitch, so we put it where everyone can see it.
